About the Mount Sinai

Health Center

If you are between the ages of 12 and 21 (new clients must be 19 or younger), the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center is here for you. Our doctors, nurses, social workers, health educators and other health staff believe you should be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy to reach your full potential in life. We can take care of your health care needs, including these services:

Medical Services

  • Checkups, physicals for sports, camp, work or school
  • Urgent/walk-in services
  • Specialty services such as: dermatology, rheumatology and more
  • HIV couseling and testing
  • HIV/AIDS medical care

Reproductive Health Services for Males & Females

  • Birth control advice and information
  • Condom availability
  • Family planning
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Sexually transmitted infections testing and treatment
  • Emergency contraception

Counseling Services

Individual, family and/ or group therapy:
Relationship & family problems, depression, drugs & alcohol, rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence, HIV infection & coping with HIV in the family, and eating disorder treatment.

We're Affordable

All of our services are available regardless of your ability to pay. We accept Medicaid and most other health insurance plans (always bring your card to the Center). If you don't have insurance, many services are free, although your medical visits may cost $9.00. You also can learn more about health insurance by speaking with an enrollment counselor.

We Respect Your Privacy

The Center offers you confidential services. We encourage you to talk with your parents/guardians, although we understand that this is not always possible.

How to Receive Care

The Center is open daily, Monday through Saturday and some evenings. You should always call for an appointment instead of just walking in. But if you have a medical concern that you feel can't wait, call the immediate care number to speak with a nurse.

**If your period is two weeks late and you had unprotected sex, you can walk in at 8:30 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday for a free pregnancy test.

We're Easy to Find

The Center is in Manhattan, on 94th Street between First and Second Avenues. You can take:
- the #6 train to 96th Street and Lexington Avenue

the #4 train to 86th Street and Lexington Avenue, then the #6 to 96th Street
- the M15 bus runs uptown on First Avenue
- the M15 bus runs downtown on 2nd Avenue
- the M96 bus runs crosstown on 96th Street.
